How to Tailor Your Resume for Global Employers

An Indian-style resume often includes too much personal information and not enough "quantifiable impact" for global recruiters. Here's how to fix it.

1. Ditch the Personal Details

Remove your Father's name, Date of Birth, Marital Status, and Passport number. In Western markets, these are considered irrelevant and sometimes illegal for recruiters to ask.

2. Focus on "Outcome" not "Output"

Instead of "Responsible for writing Java code," use:

"Optimized Java backend services, reducing latency by 40% and saving $10k in monthly AWS costs."

3. The "Visa Potential" Section

Include a tiny section near the top: "Eligible for EU Blue Card / H1B / Global Talent Visa." This tells the recruiter you've done your homework.

4. One Page or Two?

Unless you have 15+ years of experience, stick to one page. Be brutal with your editing.
